We got our TiVo just after xmas, and our experience is much the same as
the folks in posting on this thread. It really does change how you
interface with the idiot box. Check out the thread for lots of examples
how. Between TiVo and DirecTV, we get what we want, when we want it. Lots
of obscure British comedies, lots of the History channel, old Hogan's
Heros reruns, you name it. And never a need for channel surfing or
settling for something of only marginal interest. This little piece of
hardware is the most useful I've had in years. It's like a word processor
versus a typewriter-you get along fine with a typewriter until you use
and grok the benefits of a word processor, then you can't imagine going back.
